Landingstrip Creek Stream Restoration Work Party

Help NSEA, REI, and the Whatcom Land Trust as we work to plant hundreds of native trees and shrubs along the banks of the river at this brand new site. This work will help to restore streamside habitat for salmon. From Bellingham, head east on Mt. Baker Highway (SR 542) for about 15 miles. Turn right onto Highway 9, just outside of Deming, and follow for about 7 miles until you arrive in Acme. Parking is available at Acme Elementary School, located at 5200 Turkington Rd. – just off of Highway 9. A shuttle will be available or you can walk to the site by carefully following the railroad grade for about .25 miles and then turning left onto Rothenbuhler Rd. Look for signs and check in at the blue NSEA tent. Tools and gloves, as well as light refreshments are provided. Volunteers of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
