Ya'axché celebrated Earth Day 2011 along with the primary school of Indian Creek, one of the villages that buffers Ya'axché-managed Golden Stream Corridor Preserve. Julio Chub, the Education and Outreach Officer, visited every class in the school for a brief presentation about Earth Day, which was followed by tree planting in the schoolyard. The trees, including a variety of hardwoods and fruit trees, will provide important bird habitat and green the area around the school.
